Fest of Trees!

Logan's class went to the Festival of Trees. I was Happy I had the time to go with.. Logan loved the trees and every tree we saw he would say "picture mommy" "say cheese click" yea he makes the sound that the camera makes.. Logan and his bff Weston...... Logan loved Santa he kept on yelling at the top of his lungs "SANTA HI SANTA"
it was soooo cute.. than he wanted to go sit on his lap but I didn't want to pay the 8$ and the hour long wait.. he started to have a meltdown so i go over to the ladies that took the money and I asked if there was any way we could see him really quick because we didn't have time to wait since the bus was leaving in 30 minutes after talking them into it.. she said OK he can go in only if you can go right now!! so we did.. yay! sometimes having autism does have its perks :)

Autism at 1 in 91 children....

Autism Prevalence Now At 1 in 91 Children, 1 in 58 Boys
SafeMinds Calls For A Ban on Thimerosal from Seasonal and H1N1 Flu Vaccines In Pregnant Women and Young Children

Monday, October 5, 2009, Reston, VA - Today the Maternal & Child Health Bureau of Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), US Department of Health and Human Services released a study evaluating the number of children in the U.S. who currently have a Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis, The Prevalence of Parent-Reported Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder among Children in the United States, 2007. The Study evaluated data from a national Survey of Children’s Health and found that 1 in 91 children between the ages of 3 and 17 currently carry an ASD diagnosis -1 in 58 boys.

Even more alarming, for the subset of children between ages 6 and 14 immunized during the 1990’s the prevalence is actually 1 in 71 children with an autism diagnosis. This age group represents children in the U.S. with the highest exposure to thimerosal, the mercury preservative routinely used until CDC, AAP and industry recommended its removal "as soon as possible" from all childhood vaccines. Despite this recommendation, mercury, one of the most neurotoxic substances on the planet, is still used in most seasonal and H1N1 vaccines.

ADAM!

last night we went and saw a movie downtown at the Broadway cinemas. we saw Adam.. it was about a man afflicted with Asperger syndrome a form of autism. it was great. while we where waiting in line to buy our tickets there was an old man playing a cello.. i was drawn to him for some weird reason.. he played the song from the movie August rush.. one of my favorites ;) the movie was sweet.. funny.. and the actor with the role of adam was amazing. I think he did a great job at portraying someone with autism.. but mostly the movie gave me hope for the future.. hope that one day logan will be able to function in the world. and even might be able to have a family of his own. definitely a must see!!!
